Hi, Any help it appreciated so i'm no bike mechanic but know a bit about bikes but this however is driving me nuts.... Anyway to get started I ride this bike over 30miles a day 5 out of 7 days a week its a Honda Innova ANF 125.... I was riding to work and was a few miles away from home when all of a sudden my bike lost power it felt like I was braking hard.... Pulled over and before I could switch the engine off it just died... So I tried to start it and nothing happened so had to kick start it which the same thing happened again... So I did manage to start it by kick starting it and opening up the throttle which if I left go on the throttle the bike would die again.... I did manage to get it home by doing 20mph the whole way and I have changed the air filter and the spark plug which has done nothing... When I was replacing the air filter there was alot of petrol but it looked cloudy (I don't have any pictures) Now when I do start my bike the engine sounds fine there is no weird noises no nothing just the same old engine it was before... Thanks in advance :)

Sam :)

What did the old plug and filter look like and does the exhaust smell of petrol?

With the fuel in the filter box and only running with the throttle wide open I'd have a stab over fuelling - possibly the float is stuck open.

Hey again... So the old plug looked fine it look new and it sparked completely fine but changed it just incase and the new 1 did the same as the old 1.... The Filter was a little bit black but had fuel that looked cloudy and abit brown... Just tried carb cleaner and its the same old... I went and took it for a spin and it got to 20mph completely fine but as soon as I went over it would go forwards then seem like i'm braking hard.... I do think it could be a fuel problem so trying to work out where it can be.... I also can change to 2nd gear and it will do up to 30/35 then it will do the same.... Also when its not even in gear you it will not go up to high revs what so ever it will have that loss of power once again

Sorry for the late reply.... I'm talking about the air filter... Its in a box and it links to the carb.... I haven't had any issues recently the only thing I did have a while back probably in January was I blew up my engine and got a completely new engine fitted but I also have never let me fuel go below half... Always filled my bike from the petrol station never in a can and had never got rain/water to my knowledge.... I will check the fuel filter tomorrow now but I do think its the fuel that's the only thing I do need to check but I will get back to you... Also not sure if this will be a problem or not but there is a white air intake I believe slightly looks like this http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDU5MA==/z/H2cAAOSwNNxWFBIv/$_35.JPG?set_id=89040003C1 And that has some black stuff in it that doesn't look like it belongs there but I couldn't see that playing a big part

That part shown in your photo is a filter, if it had black bits in it, then its doing its job of keeping dirt out. Down side is it could now be blocked and preventing fuel getting tothe carb. Also means you have dirt in the fuel. Have a look in the tank to see if the fuel looks dirty.

Take the filter off and reverse flush it by connecting it the opposite way round to the fuel pipe with other end (carb end) inot a clean glass jar. Look to see if any dirt comes out and the fuel flows freely, If you get lots of dirt and/or the fuel does not come out freely, then replace the filter.

. My thoughts exactly , this fuel filter could very well be blocked or perhaps partially blocked. In fact , why have you got an aftermarket fuel filter at all? Most bikes I've owned have had filters built into the tank. If you feel the need for a fuel filter get a clear plastic one so you can see what's going on. Hope this helps, good luck.

Cheers for the reply... I've been working constantly so haven't had time to look on here... I'm having another look on Sunday so will take everything off (Fuel pump and Carb) and hopefully I can get it working again but will also get another fuel filter I will also empty all the fuel out and see if there is anything in it... So will reply back on Sunday and will upload some photos possibly a video if i'm stuck again... But cheers for the help so far :) Also I did ring up a few garages and every major garage said it was my head gasket but I know for a fact it isn't.... And every garage that is family owned has told me to look at the carb and fuel so I do hope it is the carb and not the fuel XD

Little update.... Took the carb off and realised that there is a cable that runs to the top of it that is snapped but I have no idea what it even does.... Also I spoke to 1 of my bike mates who has a bigger bike and he said maybe I need to reset the carb since I have put a new exhaust on it but I don't see how this will be a problem since its the same exhaust as the last 1?
