hi all,

so I took my bike on her maiden voyage since purchasing her.

all was fine until I got home and thought the engine sounded a bit tappity, I looked at the head and there was oil leaking on it and one of the bolts for the inlet valve cover head was loose(threaded)also the bike seemed to have no oil in it.

I need to get this repaired and know the obvious way to do it is to helicoil it, I just wondered if anyone else has had this issue and is there an alternative to helicoil to get it repaired.

also does anyone know the bolt size just incase I do need to go down the helicoil route.

thanks

darren

I 'assume' you bought the bike from a 'dodgy' sale - otherwise, I would take it back and get them to fix it / return my money.

Obviously the fault was present when you bought it - Head bolts don't just strip on their own - They have to either be loose to start with or, more likely, have been overtightened.

However, if returning it is not an option, drill & tap (as Mr Fro says) is simpler than using a helicoil.
