CG125 2004 onwards, lean mixture?

Hi all,

As far as I can gather, to meet all the Euro regs. the CGs have been run progressively more and more lean as they got newer until it was easier just to stick FI in which happened with the CBF in Europe.

However, I can't imagine running that lean is doing the CG's already slow performance any favours.

I've spotted some cheap allegedly Mikuni carbs for sale on eBay and the like that might be an improvement if they're adjustable. I'm not expecting miracles by any shot.

Has anyone had any experience playing about with these? I know it will never set the world alight, but even if it's a minor improvement for little money then I'd chalk it up as a win.

Any input is appreciated, and I know I should be spending my money on a bigger/better bike, but the CG is great for whizzing round town and won't die as long as I occasionally threaten it with oil and chain lube.

The CG is slow. If you want more pep for small money then changing the gearing is a much better option unless you want a project.

Mine's carburetted. It runs lean from factory and I want to try and undo that somewhat.

How much for the Mikuni?

You should be able to change the jetting in your current carb if you're worried about it running lean. A kit is ~£30.

It'd be interesting to know how you get on if you do go for the Mikuni.

They have them listed as being about £20-30 on eBay so I'm tempted to give it a shot for that money. I can't justify a bigger bike at the moment, as I have a car for any distance stuff.
