Cb125f piston and cylinder bore replacement.

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and just looking for some advice. My CB125F has had a massive problem with the piston and cylinder bore I'm looking for parts but can't find a thing! I see that the cbf125 has a similar bore size to the cb125f (GLR125) which is 52.4mm and I was just wondering how much of a different it would make if I just used the part from that instead of struggling to find the exact part! I've searched high and low on the internet and I'm thinking that there could be a universal kit available? Any comments would be helpful!

Thanks

I thought that a cbf125 and a cb125f were the same thing.........In which case this should fit......https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125cc-Cylinder-Barrel-Kit-Honda-CBF-125-52-40mm-Piston-2008-2012-/161780313599?ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F710-53481-19255-0%252F1%253Futm_source%253Dtwenga%2526utm_param%253DeyJlcyI6MCwicyI6OTcyMDIzNywiY2kiOiIwM2I4ODY3ZDgwYzgwNmI5YjY0MTBjZWE2M2EzYTE3ZCIsImkiOiI3NDY4NDg1OTE4MzY1MTU3MjU4IiwidHMiOjE1MzM0OTgzNjQsInYiOjMsInNvIjoxNTAwLCJjIjoxNzc5Njh9%2526utm_campaign%253Dtwenga%2526utm_medium%253Dcpc%2526ff3%253D4%2526pub%253D5574631662%2526toolid%253D10001%2526campid%253D5338243305%2526customid%253D03b8867d80c806b9b6410cea63a3a17d%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%25252Fitm%25252F125cc-Cylinder-Barrel-Kit-Honda-CBF-125-52-40mm-Piston-2008-2012-%25252F161780313599%2526srcrot%253D710-53481-19255-0%2526rvr_id%253D1622138736486%2526rvr_ts%253D0ba017ff1650abc18b852a11fffbb177&ul_noapp=true

Interesting, I've had a look as well and its like the CB125F simply doesn't exist as far as after market parts are concerned. The thing that puzzles me is that if the engine was identical to the CBF then you would expect the various makers of these piston and barrel kits to say so . That way they would sell more product . An alternative approach would be to buy a genuine Honda oversize piston and take it with the barrel to a reputable engineer to have it rebored and honed .

I always assumed they were exactly the same with slightly different fairings. Seems insane to have two almost identical bikes and use a different lump in each, especailly as a 125.

I agree but it just seems odd that none of the suppliers of aftermarket parts are aware of this .

Assuming the bore is the same, check the deck height of the new piston re. the centre line of the small end bearing (where the gudgeon pin goes). If that's OK, then check that the valve cutaways on top of the piston are the same. If so, Robert's yer dad's brother.....
