lexmoto fmx 125 slow to pull away

hi

looking for help with my scooter,when taking off its lagging but once its at speed say 20 to 30mph

its had new carb new spark plug an leads,was happening before new parts too

any one help

they have a type of clutch system that basically grips as you start the engine spinning faster....it will more than likely be this thats not working right


there is different types of system so you will have to check out which one you have


have a google for a centrifugal clutch its a similar sort of system to what these bikes use

It could also be the rollers in the transmission system have worn so they wont roll when you accelerate but slide and stick. They are easy to replace and you can get different weight rollers to alter the way the bike accelerates. Here is an example of what im on about

Have a google of automatic transmissions on scooters to get an understanding on how they work.

If you look at the previous picture you'll see that it doesn't have rollers , it has a centrifugal clutch.

What they have is a centrifugal clutch at one end of the drive belt then a variable pully at the other end. at tick over the clutch is disengaged but as the revs rise it engages and at the same time as speed increases the rollers in the pully are forced outwards on ramps to alter the gearing allowing the belt down into the centre of the pully so it gives you variable seamless gearing. You can alter the take up and acceleration by changing the weight of the rollers. What happens is the rollers get a flat side so they tend to stick or slide instead of rolling in the ramp channel. It could be rollers or drive belt worn out or clutch worn hard to tell with out riding it.

Ah ha , I see now . The clutch and the variator are two different things , of course . Thanks for that sir , you are quite correct.
