Beansie
Received my MRA screen today for the tracer, all installed fine until I come to do the edge protector...Never noticed one of these before and it seems an absolute pain to fit. Standard screen didn’t have a protector on it so all I want to know is it really needed and if it is needed some tips how to fit the bloody thing! Guest Richzx6r
I don't think its mandatory to be fitted as mine doesn't have one
winston smith
I vaguely remember a similar post on another forum a few years back which more or less concluded that OEM screens are generally tougher/stronger/better quality than aftermarket ones. They tend to be more rigorously tested for resistance to impact damage.flying debris/ stone chips etc can cause the screen to split from top to bottom. So aftermarket screens often use am edge protector which can stop that splitting. If you edge protector just clips over the edges of the screen try putting it in really hot water for 5 minutes. It will soften and expand slightly. You can also put a smear of washing up liquid around the edge of the screen.
