It finally happened I dropped my bike this morning! There was no damage however the engine light came on, it wouldn't start. Then I reset the key and the engine light went off and it started, is this normal?

Any help advice would be greatly appreciated.

(Only damage was a dint on the end of the handlebars)

seems likely to me that the ECU recognised a problem caused by the bike falling over and this problem soon resolved itself when the bike was upright, the error went away, the light went off and the bike started.

The same sort of thing will happen to my bike if it falls over.. the engine will be turned off. and will only restart when the bike is back upright, turned off (by the key) and then turned on again.

Yes - it's normal on many modern bikes

And welcome to the club.

I just looked at it and went your joking. No major damage just a little scrape on the handlebars I've gotta admit though my ass did fall out!
