I'd guess laser as it cant get bent, I just use luck and some eye line, give the wheel a quick spin and see if its catching on the sprockets or not it not I'd surmise it's good

I bought the lazer monkey from tru tension a while ago as a aid for my wife to adjust her own chain

Too many variables ....

It has to sit on the sprocket true and it only clamps by two bits of plastics under compression tension .

There are mutiple hinged points that have some free play in so can give a false reading .

You potentially have to remove items to use it ie chain guard .

The batteries supplied are for testing only and last about 30 secs.

You have to manually move the laset head again on a hinge that will sway and alter the placement....

So in my opinion its crap but it can be used as a check tool after doing it manually ie string method

Did think about getting the magnet laser style but how does it determine if your chain sits deep enough for the laser height etc

I just measure the distance apart of the spindle centres on both sides. Seems to work.

Sadly the exhaust is in the way on the offside. Off to buy a sprocket laser (also love a gadget).

I've got a laser monkey too, I also think its a bit pants. Worked great on my WR125 and I was really impressed by it, however on both the Bandit and the Gixxer it's totally useless. It never seems to want to stay put, and as TimR mentioned, the moment you move the laser bit it shifts and you have to start again. It's frustrating as I got great results with it previously, I think it really depends on your sprocket type.
