What model was it? HONDA DEAUVILLE NT650V TWIN v2

When did you buy it and how much did it cost? JULY 2011 £1000

Good points? very comfortable, responsive for a 650v twin. not bad mpg. plenty of storage. lots of weather protection. engines are all but indestructible.

Bad points? heavy, and high seat, having mine lowered. with touring screen on you get a bit of side buffeting. with short screen on little protection from the elements.

Would you get another? hmm, perhaps a newer 700, i think their are other makes out there that might be as good if not better (and lighter)

Any other comments? i love it as my first big bike.

Got a Deauville NT650V (‘99) as a cat-N from an eBay seller for silly cheap, as my first big bike after passing my test a couple of years ago.

I’ve not got much to compare it to bar the MT07 I did my 5-days and test on. Should mention I’m 50, so. It looking for a crotch rocket!

I’ve found it super comfortable, can ride all day. Plenty enough power, maintenance is easy for a home-wrencher. Gearbox is very clunky and (unsurprisingly given age) 5-speed. Carbs have never given me any trouble. Great twin pot Brembo brakes - no ABS though later ones got linked brakes. Very heavy (240kg I think) but stable when moving.

The style is a bit old-man, but very practical. Apparently they’re a fave of couriers.

Insurance is super cheap. Great all round bike as long as you’re not racing!

I well remember when its smaller Japanese grey import variant was an almost constant feature in the bike mags, the NT Honda Bros. which was a chain driven bike. 400 and there was also a rarer 650cc. the version that came to this country was the NTV with shaft drive. and that was definitely a favourite of couriers and tourers on a budget.
