KAWASAKI W800.

This bike is in my eyes the best looking retro bike on the market today. When i saw the first pictures of it before it was in the showrooms i said to myself " i'm having one of them".

I bought one, and picked it up on the 1st March 2011.

I fitted a screen, mud flap to the front mud guard, crash bars, carrier and a top box.

The finish of the bike is brilliant with lots of chrome and alloy wheels. Everything on the bike is made of metal except the back of the clocks.

The bike goes very nice and for a twin it is very smooth. There is a little bit of vibes at about 3k rpm but after that it feels as smooth as a 4 cylinder bike. I think they must leave a few vibes when they designed it to give it a traditional feel.

The riding position is nearly upright, and the seat is very comfortable. I've done lots of long distance rides without the numb bum feeling. This bike will cruise all day at 65 to 80mph. It's only doing about 3.5k rpm at 70 mph. Some people think the suspension is a bit soft, but i think they made it that way as it replicates the way bikes were in the 1960s. I like it soft as i don't use it for racing.

I have done nearly 5000 miles on it so far, and would have done more but could not ride for a month due to an operation on my arm. When i stop somewhere when out for a ride it does not take long before i get people stopping to look at it and asking questions. Most popular question is "what make is it" and "what does the W on the tank stand for". The only indication it is a Kawasaki is on the back of the seat and mine is covered nearly by the carrier and top box.It does look like a 1960s Triumph Bonnie at first glance. I have had dozens of bikes but i think this is my favorite bike so far.

If you want to know more just PM me and i'll be happy to answer any questions about the bike.

I think the W800 looks brilliant. There is one brand new sitting at a Kawasaki dealer near me, same colour scheme as yours and it is just shouting buy me!

It is a shame there is no such thing as a retro top box. The universal one you have looks a bit incongruous and out of place.
