Forum downtime

#1 Post by Stu » Fri Mar 11, 2016 9:42 am

As you may have noticed we had some downtime on the forum

This was due to the server running out of memory and causing the database to crash!

This was the second time it happened in the space of a few hours

It also appears that we have lost some posts!

If it happens again I will be looking at upgrading the server!

Its hard to say what caused it to be honest

It would have been sorted sooner if I wasn't at work and on my mobile

Take a look at Google cloud SQL. Fully hosted MySQL database instances that you can scale up/down as required.
Only pay for what you use so works out cheaper than paying for a big fat server incase you need the capacity..

I looked in to them before and for the minimum I needed it worked out more!

What sort of database capacity are you needing?
There are a few options for fully hosted databses that might work out for you. PM some stats if you like and I'll take a look for ya.
All the time you're having to mess with the IT side of stuff it's less time on your bike/living

Is there no option to like someone's post now ?
