Wanted: cheap reliable economical commuter.

Possibly after a cheap (£1500 or less) very reliable, very economical, long distance commuter. Bit of weather protection would be nice. No panniers, or ugly top box. Good tank range, cosmetically not too worried but serviced well and mechanically Swiss watch like. Needs to deal with London traffic, motorway and country b roads. What you got?

It’s a 1988 Cbr400rr nc23 about 31000 miles ... if your interested can pm my dads number you can talk to him direct :thumb:

Cheers six, gonna pass. Been looking them up, tank range seems a bit shy of what I'd like. Hoping for 200mile range and 60+ mpg. A unicorn might be more likely but you never know.

what about something like a ninja 250? (it's not mine)

Obviously the bigger engine you go for the worse your mpg is going to be. I would have recommended a vfr800 like mine, but it's more like 42-45mpg.

I'm not sure about a small bike like that. Got a good stretch on motorways and a1m plus a bit worried about comfort for hour and a half each way. Looking at nc700x which will do 65+mph and easy 200+ tank range or something like BMW f800st, owners getting 55-60 out of them plus belt drive might be good.
