Thanks rob, gonna look into that because I really like the ghost camera, it was only the sound I hated :thumb:
No worries man, the fact that I've owned this one for so many years is an endorsement I reckon.

For the record, if having the latest Drift camera is not a priority , a used Ghost S HD can be had on Ebay for £80 upwards. When I bought mine it was £300.

I did like the ghost and if it hadn't gone tits up on me I'd have been happy with it. Now thinking of the TomTom camera which has a similar profile. Just don't fancy the GoPro shape hanging off my lid.
I tried the GoPro on the lid of my off road helmet .... Not good! IMO it's just totally the wrong size and shape, that was where the Ghost came in to its own, perfect for helmet mounting. I've never seen the tom tom camera.

Still not sure why GoPro stopped producing the Hero Session. Completely different shape and fully waterproof without a case.

The TomTom camera is a similar shape to the Ghost and has a similar kind of mount I think. About £200 so not as pricy as the GoPro. Not sure what the battery life is though as the Ghost with extended battery pack lasted for a full day.

I've just been watching the bike magazine review on you tube, looks pretty impressive. 1080 and 4k video options and settings can be accessed via the app which I like, be interested to know how you get on if you decide to buy one :thumb:

Did they not have issues with the battery? I'm sure I read that they were failing and the battery in the session wasn't changeable which meant the camera was scrap once the battery died....

TomTom's a no go as they've stopped making it or supporting the software. 😠
Various other small profile cameras are either no longer in production or have a worse reputation than the Drift. I'm still doing research but right now it looks like I either stick with Drift and get a waterproof case or version or go down the GoPro route. The problem is I just don't fancy sticking a GoPro on my helmet which means trying to find somewhere to attach it on the bike or on a chest harness. The latter may be the way to go.

I only have a sample size of one, my trusty first gen that I've had for over four years. The battery life has definitely reduced but it still works.

That's the thing with the Drift. It has so many good design features but is just badly put together; it's really frustrating.

I've just ordered a mic for the drift after chatting with Rob, hopefully that may solve the crappy sound issues. They do a waterproof case for the drift 4k but I believe the drift xl is supposed to be waterproof without a case?? I agree with you though in it being frustrating, it's a real shame that a biker didn't take it upon themselves to design one specifically for bikers, take all the good bits from all the cameras and roll them into one.

What is needed is collaboration between a helmet and a camera manufactuer to design and build a helmet with on board camera :thumb:

Too much tech, all you need is a decent lens and cmos sensor, a decent battery and a decent size storage allowance and a simple on/off switch :thumb:
