Do I need a lighting coil for my indicators?

Recommended Posts

The individual who is fixing indicators to my 1981 Kawasaki KH 125 (with a 6 volt battery), said he cant finish it without a very hard to track down lighting coil, (Kawasaki do not manufacture them any more). I talked to a friend who made a career in car and motorbike elctronics, and he said there would be no need for a lighting coil for indicators, so i'm pretty torn between the two options; leave it with him for an unknown period of time until he finds a lighting coil, or ride it home as it is and let my friend wire it up without a lighting coil.

Please give your opinion it would be greatly appreciated.

Alex.
