When im not biking :)

Recommended Posts

I bought myself a weekend car a year or so ago that had already had quite a bit of work done and had been magaiine featured.

After a few months of very content weekend "poncing" i felt the urge for more power so i set about an engine conversion which im currently halfway through.

Shes a 1989 BMW E30 325i cabriolet, and shes about to receive a 1998 328 sport lump with a few performance upgrades

Here she is when i bought her

I, however am a fan of cars, but dont usually like old BMW's. They are usually in bad nick and driven by d*cks, although I do like this one! It actually looks cared for, and therefor I doubt the driver is a tw*t. Also I always expect BMW's to go like stink, because everyone seems to modify them. IMO sleeper cars are much better, good looking small cars that look like they couldnt outrun my YBR, like my old neighbours renault 5 which he took to the track and ouran everything apart from a TVR

It is looking good though, the red and cream goes well together! A very tidy car you have there, although not sure about the soft top, in England?

Thanks for the comments guys, quite a better reception than i expected on a bike forum :)

As for te soft top it only comes out in summer (so not very often) and i use so we can enjoy a day out as a family as opposed to just taking one of the kids on the bike :)

I have enjoyed the odd car restoration in my time and this one looks a lot of fun.

I would say a BMW like that is worth doing and will be a lot of fun when complete :)

To be fair the car was in excellent shape when i bought it cosmetically and mechanically, its more of a quest for power than anything else and the "M50 2.8" engine converion is really well documented.

I just thought while its out i may aswell do a few others jobs, new brake lines, clean and repaint everything, re-dye the leather etc

Thanks for the comments guys, it not an overly complicated conversion, most of the time spent is actually researching what will fit where and modifying the cooling system from mechanical to electronic, the engine wiring loom has been modified to just plug and play

Bar that its just bolting stuff off, cleaning painting and bolting it back on again :)
