Evening, I am considering buying a 1998 CBR 600f from a friend. The bike is in mint condition but has not been turned over for about a year. Is this a risky buy or with a full service and a new battery would it be ok???

Welcome to the forum

That depends on a lot of things... If he is a mate, borrow a battery from another bike and swap it to make sure it runs before buying, I am sure he wont mind.

Yeah....I'd replace plugs, oil, filter and fuel before trying to run it. Probably just put a little squirt of oil down the barrels while the plugs are out and turn the engine over slowly by hand.

Buying any bike is a risk, so it's hard to give any meaningful advice here. Was the bike kept in a garage or outside during its layoff? There could be other stuff that needs attention too after that period of time: Brake callipers, fork seals, chain, etc.........but a regularly used bike could need attention to those things too...
