My Hyosung project

Recommended Posts

Okay guys well im new to the forum, only been biking for around 10 months. I purchased the hyo because of the size and weight, i thought it would help when i come to do my bike test. I have worked on the bike more than it has been on the road and i have got quite attached to it now :D Anyway, this is what it looked like after a clean when i first got it.

This is roughly what i have done to it in the time owned.

SS exhaust

Gone through 3 batteries due to an electrical problem, now solved

Replaced R/R

Fitted a screen

Fitted bellypan

Fitted rear hugger

Centre stand

New year indicators

Modded tail tidy

Mirror extenders

New grips

Re jetted carbs

Desnorkled air filter

Resprayed the entire bike(in my shed with rattle cans)

Just fitted a new engine with only 4000 miles on the clock

The list goes on and on and here is how it looks now.

Man after my own heart :)

I did this sort of stuff on my first RS50, its amazing how different or better the bike looks when you've finished modding it

I wish i could say i have finished modding but i always find something else :D

Thinking of changing the light to twin, sort of streetfighter style.

that spray was done with cans? wow, good work!

Cheers buddy. Some very slight orange peel if you look very close. Lots of cutting compound and T-cut used to get rid of the peel but very happy with the finished result.

Nice work :D

Where did you get the screen, it looks a cool shape.

It's an ebay screen mate. Think it was around £50. Here is a better picture

Fitted my new swingarm this morning then took her for a spin.

Just before i set off i could hear a sort of crack whilst free wheeling the bike, i thought it was my seat as it does rub on the lower part of the tank.

I heard the noise again when i got to halfords and then again whilst pushing the bike into the workshop. Sounds to be coming from the chain area. When i put the bike on the centre stand and spin the rear wheel i can hear it at every certain point of the turn.

Watching the chain from the back it does not run dead straight, it appears to sort of move from left to right.

Wheel is perfectly aligned and front sprocket is fitted correctly with no movement.

Chain got very noisy a while back, lots of chattering so maybe it is now knackered.

Done a nice job there mate.....looking good.... 8-)

Click or crack from the chain may be a seized link......check both front a rear sprockets too.....and as Throttled says make sure you've not over tensioned it..... 8-)

Cheers guys :D

Plenty of slack on the chain but i do think the chain has had it.

One thing i did notice, the front sprocket is flush on one side and has a lip on the other. I may have had the lip facing outwards with the old engine in but since fitting the new engine, i may have put the lip facing in. There is no information anywhere to state which is the proper way the sprocket faces so i don't think it really matters. Because the sprocket was run for so long one way, taking wear into account, now it is facing the other way it could be affecting the chain.

As i say i dont think the chain is much good now so i am going to buy a new chain and sprockets and start again.

Thats amazing man... Seriously revamped that thing! I also love the screen. If you could find it on ebay and link me? Really want it... Does it cut down on wind hitting your chest?

So sorry mate, haven't been on for a while so didn't see your post. I have been spending more time on the bike and the screen has now gone. Pics to follow.

Done away with the round headlight and screen for a more streetfighter look. Modded the grab rail. Hoping to get rid of the pods and fit a digital speedo, koso or similar.

Had my exhaust modded today and got rid of the dodgy T junction pipe that was in the system sold to me.

Anyway, now the system has a nice sweeping pipe from the RC

I was quite shocked to find this when we cut the T join, not very good workmanship

That is the best 'face' for the bike so far. :D

Cheers mate, very happy with it. Been tempted to go full faired but it's more my own stamp on it leaving it like this :D

Great work .... I think you should now take off the Hyosung badges and replace them with PandP ones as you seem to have created your own bike now :)

 now that's an idea  Few more bits to add yet - Renthal bars, fairing mirrors, new tyres, chain and sprockets and hopefully mod this Brembo rear master cylinder to fit my Hyo.

Just bought a full size endcan as i'm not too keen on the stubby can now.

Sorry for all the pics just very happy with how it has transformed on the 18 months of owning it :D

I think you need to paint your engine, frame, forks and brake calipers if you want something do to!

Example:

http://bikerscafeblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/CBR1-540x404.jpg

Give the engine a colour accent like the one seen there, paint the forks and frame matt black and the calipers gold.

Then I reckon you'll have a nicer street fighter look :)
