handlebar changes?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, take for example a cbr600 or gsx600. Standard bars are clip on type and quite low. Are there any modifications that could be carried out to the bike to get a handle bar height an inch or two up and back. Street fighter style I guess. The original fairing might have to modified too to accommodate.

any ideas guys?

We modded Bonniebird's Speed 4 by drilling the top yoke and fitting some Renthal bars using Oberon risers......the only

things you need to be aware of is the length of the throttle and clutch cables......and the wiring to the switchgear.....

That's just what I had in mind.

Bonniebird, I assume you have done a fair bit of test riding now?

More comfy and better slow speed handling is what I'd be hoping for too.

The risers have a M10 stud screwed into the bottom of them......so the top yoke had to be drilled and nyloc nuts and washers screw onto the threads underneath the yoke, which holds the risers in place......

I bought a spare top yoke off ebay and got it drilled with a pillar drill at work so I kept the original yoke. There isn't much of a honeycomb under the S4 yoke and the top is smooth so it was fairly straightforward.

LSL do a range of top yoke conversion kits too for various bikes but quite expensive. Also not angled so I went for a DIY job.
