laughing gas

Has anyone noticed the recent appearance of small metal gas canisters that seem to have been discarded on the roads ? You might not spot them when travelling by car or motorcycle but when I'm out cycling I see loads of them . At first I didn't know what they were and I wrongly assumed that they were connected to vaping . Eventually I discovered that in fact these things contain nitrous oxide or laughing gas that people are inhaling to get a buzz . Well each to their own BUT here's the thing , if these cylinders are to be found mostly on the road does this mean that people are snorting this stuff while driving ? I bloody hope not . Perhaps someone can shed more light on this matter.

If they're on the road it could well be from a cyclist. We use them instead of a manual pump when doing roadside puncture repairs. They're small and light enough and save you a few minutes of effort.

Cyclists littering the roads... And it's supposed to be more environmentally friendly... Grrrrr.

Of course they should take the empty home with them, it doesn't take up any more room than when they brought it full! But people are lazy.

I saw a load in one place in London yesterday. Maybe those were laughing gas.

Good theory but I don't think so . There's just too many of them especially in " urban " areas.

I've discovered why they exist at all . Their proper use is as propellant in the squirty cream dispensers used by the likes of Starbucks to adorn their over priced coffee or in restaurants to produce foam . N2O is in the squirty cream sold in supermarkets as well.

Or as ice cream dispensers, there's loads of uses.

Nitrous Oxide is a POM (Prescription only medicine) so not sure where they're getting this from, I have heard that ambulances in some parts of the country are having the Entonox cylinders nicked from their vehicles.

It seems to be flouting the law https://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/may/29/laughing-gas-government-legal-highs-nitrous-oxide

They've obviously found a way around it

Well have a read of the previous posts in this thread, it comes from the food industry mostly cream dispensers. Here you are , 50p a go . http://i.imgur.com/dH99b4Y.png notice the free adapter? Why not just include the balloons and be done with it? Anyway to get back to my original point , its the fact that these discarded cylinders litter the roads thereby suggesting that people are taking this stuff WHILE DRIVING that concerns me a as a cyclist and motorcyclist. There's enough dozy bast*rds and druggies out there already without this nonsense.
