Is there enjoyment riding a 125 bike or would you stick to a car?

Post by Impy2 » Wed Dec 27, 2017 9:26 pm

As title. Do people only ride 125cc bikes to get them to work and back or is biking fun as well? I don't have a bike but was thinking of getting a 125. I wouldn't be using it to commute but was looking a new hobby for the new year. It's either get a bike or maybe a wee sports car. I'm in my late 50s. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Steve

In the mid 80's my first bike was a 125. In 3 great years it took me to all the corners of the British mainland. I recently bought an old XT600 and I've done some sedate touring on it, it is very much like touring on my old TX125X!

There is a 125 group who ride Suzuki VanVans. It’s a personal thing, 125s can be fun and easy to live with if you are happy to tootle along at slightly slower speeds. In an ideal world I’d have a 125 for those days when I’m feeling chilled and want to keep things simple, but I only have space for one bike so it doesn’t work for me, I need something I can ride on the motorway.

This is a motorbike forum......wrong place to look for sensible, unbiased advice regarding taking up biking....

As someone has said, try a Get On taster or do your CBT and see how it goes......but be prepared for the bug to bite......I've ridden bikes for over 40 years, and I never tire of it..... 8-)
I feel the need....the need for Speed......Triple

:stupid:

If you're like many of is you'll do your CBT and any thought of a sports car will be history, because you'll be high as a kite and wanting to get back out on a bike as soon as possible! :)

You Seem to be taking notice of your friends and family that your too old, and talking yourself out of a bike.

Its a while since I rode a 125 BUT I remember the feeling is exactly the same as a big bike.

Its NOT about power its about Freedom Fun & the feeling that you part of a "brotherhood/sisterhood"

If you progress to a bigger bike then your "wee sports car" WILL be a lot slower than an average 600cc

Years down the road and if you Go even bigger and you will have to drive a Bugatti Veyron to even keep up with a big bike

Great thanks for advice. I'm so nervous about getting on a bike. I was watching a lot of CBT training on you tube and I just kept thinking these people are all young doing it!!

Thats just those videos though

Look at bike meets on youtube and look at the average age of the bikers ..........you wont feel old then.

When we ride (ALL of Us) and we see a biker at the side of a road we stop to help............if a car driver stops to help you can bet he/she is either a biker OR a biker by heart
