Luggage; branding, price and quality

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a long weekend and wanted something a bit easier to get on and off than my soft panniers. Found two tail bags that I like and they seem almost identical online. One is SW Motech (£155) and the other is Autokicker (£80). Am I paying for a name or am I paying for quality? The reviews aren't much use. Found one that said the Autokicker got a tear in the lining but rest say its good.

Rule of thumb:

If it says "SW Motech" or "Touratech" on it, yes you are paying for the name. Without fail. Although in some cases there's a chance that nobody else will offer an equivalent product. But not in the case of a tailpack, so go for the Autokicker :thumb:

I have a couple of Kriega bags, I'm yet to use them all together in anger but I've used a couple individually and I'm very pleased with them. They aren't cheap but the quality is spot on, 10 year warranty too.

I have a US 30 and two US 10's

I've got a kriega us30 Tailpack that's a few years old now and has been through some epically wet weather without a hint of a leak......deffo worth the money IMHO. ..... 8-)

Also have a look at Lomo dry bags......not as easy to attach and release from the bike as the Kriega stuff....but good value......
