Yamaha YBR125 power problem

Hi all,

New here and this is my first post. So first of all... Hi.

Now onto the issue. Bought a Yamaha YBR125 13 plate back at the end of August to get me between home and the station.

It’s been pretty smooth riding in the most part however every now and then I’d be riding and the engine and electrics would cut out. The garage said it was likely because I had the house keys etc all attached and that them bouncing about whilst riding is probably jogging the switch too much and turning the bike off.

Took the other keys off and seemed to solve the problem for a while.

However recently it’s been harder and harder to actually get the electrics to turn on before even starting the bike. I can stand there for 5-10 minutes turning the key with nothing happening.

Battery has been checked and changed and this hasn’t made any difference.

Has anyone experienced any similar issues at all? Or very open to any advice anyone might have on what to check?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the ignition switch is failing to make contact. I'd go round the wiring and make sure that nothing has come loose or damaged, and take apart the ignition to inspect it's operation.
