A sad day! (MOD 2)

Recommended Posts

bad luck Elizabeth :(

can't always predict the knobness of drivers. saw a car almost take out a biker on my way home... he wasn't on a test though so stuck his fingers up at the guy and carried on. This probably doesn't help.. I feel I had a point but I'm not sure what it was....

That once passed it would have been a non issue solved by I finger in the air :P

Funny how I enjoy biking more and I cant seem to pass this test and I just tolerate going out in the car yet I passed that first time 😒

Well I didn’t expect that. Pesky car drivers.

Some car drivers don’t think they have to indicate- conversation with my mother at a roundabout where she was going right-

Me gently- “You should indicate at a roundabout”

My mother- “Why I know where I’m going”

Tell her she’s the reason people fail tests

Everyone should go check out the magic roundabout in hemel Hempstead - that's a joy.

Wow, thanks for that memory, I worked there 30 years ago and remember that strange roundabout. I had a company ford escort 1.6D van.

I passed my car driving test third time @elizabethf and it's been scientifically proven that if you pass a DVSA test on the third try you are the best road user around :)

I must be at this rate, theres probably not much I dont know about this damn test haha

I still stand by that Id rather keep retaking this one than my MOD 1 though!!

Oh, Elizabeth - what a bummer!!! At least it's winter, so all you'll be missing is shite weather.

Good luck next time. You're learning from these incidents, remember.

Im not sure I am? They never give me any feedback, they just say "remember x car there? We had to fail you for that. But apart from that it was a great ride so you have no riding faults, come back soon" BOTH TIMES. I was a bit mouthier this times and asked what they would do, and he just said 'wait longer' Ok next time Ill wait even longer then at each junction with just a sniff of traffic and let you fail me for being too hesitant and building up a load of minors then! Sorry, being a little catty today as Im a bit frustrated. Its the 'no minors' thing thats getting to me. Im not learning.

I do the training day beforehand and we usually finish early as I dont have any glaring errors (as I do ride every day for work)

Didnt ride to work today, need to not look at motorbikes for a couple of days haha.

The only bonus this time was my instructor on leaving said he was shocked they failed me for that and that I am one of his best riders. So trying to focus on that compliment I suppose.

I don't know you elizabethf so this is just my interpretation from reading your posts. But I think you've got a fantastic mindset overall and from what I've read I am sure you're a great rider. I wouldn't normally say that based on posts on a forum but I just have a feeling that you are generally safe, competent and capable.

You have absolutely every right to feel frustrated and I'm sure that in a way even me saying this will rankle you. I will understand why if it does (you keep getting told you're fine by everyone around you, me saying this changes nothing and you still don't have your pass etc) but I needed to say it. I hope relatively soon when you've got your pass under your belt you'll look back at this post and understand.

I don't know what else to say but say give yourself the space to feel frustrated, curse the other driver and then crack on as you already do. I get what you mean that you're not necessarily learning, we all have these moments on the road and no-one is hurt, it just happens.

The only other solution I have isn't workable, and that's what I thought before I did my tests: I wish they actually followed you on the road for a couple of hours, giving them more of a time to assess your overall riding competency and let a bit of 'after you' at a junction slide, vs the 30-40 minutes they do get. But I imagine that that would send test costs rocketing.

40 mins or 2 hours, regardless of cost I dont think it would bother me if I got the pass as that makes it worth it! Thats why after I suspected they might fail me I kept riding round as though that didnt happen, just in case they took the rest of the ride into account!

Oh well, I'll get it next time. If I dont, ill give up hahaha.

Bad luck, mate.........If it's any consolation, my OH's daughter passed today.......on her 3rd attempt.......and, like you, she had similar experiences on her previous 2 tests....no minors, just 1 major on each....

Good luck.....#3's the winner...... 8-)

I still stand by that Id rather keep retaking this one than my MOD 1 though!!

My Mod1 is on Tuesday and I already hate it. If I get through, my mod 2 is in a couple of weeks. Sorry to Hear that the CBR125 is sitting unridden. Perhaps though, you could practice "correctness" and technique on that rather than not riding at all. There is no substitute for seat time.

You're one up on me though. I'll be out today doing figure 8s around tennis balls!

Sorry to hear this, what people do on the roads is utterly ridiculous. When taking my hgv lessons I was amazed at what you can fail for when it comes to other road users, unfortunatly aridity isn’t built into the Highway Code.

Best of luck for your next test sounds like you have it under control and have that experience under your belt

Crikey, what a word for so late on a Saturday.

ps why isn't dryness built into the highway code? :thumb:

Dam auto correct haha, although could be perfect Saturday night tired and drunk writing haha

You'll nail it! Those things will soon be a thing of the past. The positive of MOD 1 is its only about 10 mins :D

Hopefully you nail it next time, 3rd time lucky.

I recently managed to get through my tests (2 attempts at mod 1) I think I scored it lucky with my examiner following in his car and was sure I'd failed until he handed over my pass certificate with no minors. Now I've passed I can learn to ride!

Good luck for the next time
