workpeter
Found this on bbc...Altering the mileage on a vehicle is not illegal, but selling it on without telling the subsequent buyer is fraud. Prospective buyers of a second-hand car, van or bike can check the vehicle's MOT history via a government website.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11897982

workpeter
Or got caught Just shows the power of checking MOT history. Honestly, I only found out about that government website last year, and it was a dealer who told me about it when I was asking about the millage on my current bike. And it's a free check
Hoggs
TANGENT ALERTwhen I bought my bike it had only done 15k.(15 year old bike) The guy I bought it from had printed out the MOT history as he only had the bike for about 6 months and hadn't believed the mileage when he bought it
