Hi all, so, trying to replace the rear pads today and the goddam caliper pin is stuck solid.

Can't twist it with pliers, can't tap it using a small Phillips head screwdriver

I've soaked it with WD40 but no luck

Any advice for a noob?

decent tools would help ...

try a pair of vice grips/mole grips

and a pin punch .

could be the long game of soak with wd or similar and tap and soak

but remember to clean all surfaces of said wd before riding.

check that your tapping the right direction

and that its designed to tap out .

applying heat you run the risk of burning the seals and boiling brake fluid unless you have a small flamed blowtorch but even then you run a risk .

Thanks Tim

Success!

Today I have learned that tapping out seized pins does not work. Absolutely smashing them out with a flattened off Phillips and a great big hammer does :thumb:

The bad news is that after replacing the pads I discovered the cap for the rear brake fluid reservoir has gone missing :|

Heat and penetrating oil as suggested.

Use a hot air gun on a lowish setting or a hairdryer.

I don't know the details or design of the caliper but googling would suggest a Brembo with a pin and r clip?

Can you get to the back of the pin and drive out with a pin punch?

Try tapping it the other way aswell just to loosen it off.

Try tapping the grips with a hammer to move it.

Just posted this then read you had sorted it :thumb:

Would one of the these actually work out cheaper ?

Same cost as OEM bottle from Motorworks

Ok , I bet they don't offer a choice of colours though . 😉
