So some guys doing 30mph in a 60 for ages and I was waiting for a good overtaking spot, finally I found a good one;

great view [check]

no junctions [check]

good enough distance to complete over take before oncoming cars arrive [check]

Off I go then, over take committed, he sees me coming so he decides to floooooooooor it all of a sudden?!

He had a RS6 so that thing also pullsss. I carry on committing because I can not slide in behind him as there is a line of cars behind us - at this point the oncoming cars are coming I had to hit 80/85mph just to complete the damn over take. I pulled in just before the oncoming car was going to wreck me - also the oncoming car had no intention of slowing down for me either, to make matters worse the RS6 saw the oncoming cars where getting nearer but he carried on accelerating.

At the time of my near death experience I was fine now I got home I feel shaken up and sick. Most importantly of all wtf was that guys issue?

There are a breed of drivers who will mess with bikes deliberately. The fact that someone driving a quick car was driving so slowly suggests they were just trying to force you into that situation. You live ( hopefully) and learn.

My usual tactic in such situations is to back off, then at the next lights sit BEHIND them and give them a clap. That really seems to the best way to let them know what you think of them.

So your both flooring it and you can't pull back in because there is no gap because of all the traffic behind sorry just doesn't make sense

If I floor my fazer there would be a huge gap within 2 seconds.

This :stupid:

He sounds like a complete nob head! Unfortunately we've all seen them, my advice would be not to put yourself at risk, don't be drawn into a race with him, wait until the traffic slows or the point where it comes to a stop, as it inevitably does, then filter past him and give him the finger!! I know how you feel though....

Not quite as dramatic as your experience here's what happened to me tonight;

Following 3 cars with a small van at the head of the queue who was ambling along about 40-45 mph in a 50mph limit.

Round a bend leading onto a short straight uphill,no junctions just fields either side, plenty of space to overtake at least 2 of them.

Nothing coming, mirror check, drop the R1 a gear and start to accelerate to see a load of brake lights, the van had decided to pull into a gateway.

Quickly scrubbed the speed off the Yam with its excellent blue spot brakes and rode on.

Just shows to expect the unexpected.

What bike are you riding as anything 600cc or above would out accelerate an Audi rs6 quite easily and also as has been said surely there would be a gap behind the Audi is it and you have given the beans.....something doesn't quite fit

Exactly my thoughts.. for there to be no gap behind all the cars behind would need to be accelerating just as fast.

Sounds to me like you wanted to get in front of him and didn’t want to back down and nearly killed yourself. Maybe it’s your way to lift the guilt off your shoulders by saying there was no way to slow down and get behind?

I’d just say I f**ked up, got caught in the moment and nearly done myself in. You’ll learn next time what to look out for instead of acting like it wasn’t your fault.

Sorry if I’m wrong and come across like a dickhead, just putting my 2 cents in

I don't think you sound like a dickhead.....not many cars are quick enough to keep up with an rs6 unless it was a convoy of identical rs6's then maybe but highly unlikely so it does sound like a pride situation

These type of drivers are the same type of people it has taken two attempts to circumcise :D

Things like this happen all the time. Tonight myself and AN Other filtered to the front of traffic at the lights (dual carriageway), AN Other accelerates off allowing me behind him to also get away, however the sac of waste circumcised skin decided he would accelerate quickly trying to outpace us (why  ). This left me in a dangerous position thus having to accelerate past AN Other with the sac of waste behind me nearly rear ending me. Anyhow - next set of lights I politely asked the sac of circumcised skin to step out of the car so we can discuss his actions in finer detail. He must have got a viagra pill stuck in his throat, his neck was that stiff he couldn't turn his head to face me, his aircon must be working fine cos the window also went up pretty quick. I suppose he wanted to demonstrate he has a quick car cos he hasn't got any cock n balls  :D :D :D

As a rule of thumb, if the car has any of the following written on it they are usually going to try and race you.

M series, RS, Type R, ST, Audi.

Always be aware of this and avoid them (Or not if you fancy a bit of fun).

You'll live longer once you realise this.

Is it wrong to embarrass them while riding two up on a tourer with full luggage?

This is something I don't think car drivers get.....even the slowest bike 600cc+ will accelerate 0-60+ in sub 3.5 seconds so if you drive something less than an £150k supercar why even bother

Urgh - why does no ever want to race me?

Maybe its because they are all old people around your area who struggle to even drive at a normal pace let alone race somebody else

yeah it makes me laugh too!

We have a group of car enthusiasts at work they aren't your typical boy racers they are older guys with family's who like nice motors etc etc

Some of them have some quick cars and having a conversation one day they was all giving each other stats :blah: I turned round and said my bike would do 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and waste them all without trying! none of them believed me at first then they was all shocked that bikes could do that

Just shows how people get in their own little shell and think its the fastest out there and will out run anyone!

I mean even a 125 will do 0-60 in around 6 or 7 seconds so yeah why do cagers try to outrun bikes apart from its their jealousy that they cant do what we can, when I was down south I checked online and mine will apparently do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.....

I can attest to this, being the owner of one of these 'slow' bikes, a 650cc Transalp. I regularly am able to filter my way to the front of the queue at a set of lights on my way home from work, and more often than not I'm way down the road before most of the cars have really gotten going. This was not the case on two occasions recently: First one was an M5, fair enough, you pay your £100k you can leave me for dust every day of the week no problem. Today was a.... heck I don't even know what it was, a Toyota Starlet or something equally as tiny... but off we all go, tiny car still behind me, fair enough riding a rally tourer first gear doesn't get you very far, now second gear and really getting going and I hear a dump valve right behind me and this thing really wants me to get out the way. I pull into the left lane and away he goes. I dunno what it was, but it was quick!

Getting back on topic though, in my limited experience I've learnt to avoid any car that actively tries to engage with you in any negative way, be it racing, deliberately awkward road positioning, unnecessary acceleration or braking, whatever... those drivers have ego, and ego is dangerous.
