For those who readily dismiss the quality of chinese made bikes, do you really know where your big brand bike is actually made, you may be surprised, http://www.whomademybike.com/

Z250SL - PT Kawasaki Motor Indonesia. Bleh. To be fair though if you actually look at it closely the word Indonesia is written all over it..

CB250 - Eicher Motors Ltd in India in 2007, weird because it was registered in 1994..

TRX - Best Way Trailers, United States (I'm not sure if this site is 100% correct!)

K100 - South America

Yeah nah. The VIN is always correct though which is slightly spooky, makes it a good tool if you want to clone a vehicle.

Nothing wrong with Thai made bikes, their build quality often exceeds the Japanese. I've had a Honda that was Thai built, excellent. :thumb:
PS, Honda oversee production to preserve the brand name.

Did some extensive research last night, majority of the big brands are made in Japan with some exceptions, the sub 500cc bikes tend to be hit and miss, some made in Japan some in France, several in Thailand, some odd ones a Malaysia, and a few in China, most of the bigger bikes upwards of 500cc tend to be Mainly Japan, although there have been some recent models that have been made in France, all these were from reg numbers that i could see from ebay and odd images from google :thumb:

No. They are all made in Berlin aside from one, which is made in India.

Some engines are made in China but final assembly takes place in Germany.

Most Triumphs are made in Thailand.

Source: Worked at Triumph factory UK.

I have to admit, I do love the guys who do the "Buying British engineering, better than that asian crap" who then learn that their bike was actually imported in and get a bit upset.

Several of the reviews I looked at specifically stated the build quality of the Thai factory, especially their paintwork.
