Tyre swap - Where?
Well, I COULD go to my local bike shop by they tend to make a meal of these things. Plus I didn't buy the tyre from them ( they made a mess of that last time too.) My local car place won't touch bikes. Are they all like that? I can take the wheel off myself. Where could I take it other than another bike mechanic? I didn't think it was going to be an issue!
If there isn't enough lubricant, you must be doing it wrong.

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
Our local garage does bikes and cars, including tyres. Are on you on a local Facebook motorcycle group? They'll know the best places.

Change it yourself, as long as you get the direction of rotation correct and put the dot in the right place all should be good

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
I have changed many!
without the proper gear its a pain in the arse!
Breaking the bead is a nightmare and on tight tyres getting them off is a challenge
saying that I can now remove a tyre and fit a new valve and new tyre in around 5 mins

But correct tools help

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
Bead breaking easy enough with a quick grip style hand clamp, decent tyre irons and a jig to hold the wheel in place

Re: Tyre swap - Where?

I have had to use a vice before to break some beads!
Wish they was all as easy as a hand clamp and a tyre iron!
This is what I use except for the bar as that one damages rims and mine doesn't

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
I tried to change the tyres on the scooter a couple of weeks ago, not a hope.
Tried breaking the bead with a big vice without success.
So stopped wasting time and went to a local car tyre place where they changed both tyres, balance and disposal of the old ones for £30.

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
I did it once using bent bits of metal and much swearing. Never again. I'm happy to let our local workshop earn their daily crust. I'd never change enough tyres to warrant buying the right kit.

Re: Tyre swap - Where?
It's handy to be able to change your own tyres but it can be a right pain in the buttocks - especially breaking the bead and buggering about with levers.
I'd look for a tyre specialist (or main dealer of you're feeling flush) if you don't have a good bike place near by. I took a wheel to a car place once and they took a chunk out of it.
