we stayed in Viaden Luxembourg stu, not far to get to cochem from there.

Any recommendations for a hotel in there?

http://www.camping-our-vianden.lu/index.php?article_id=12&clang=0

there is a hotel at front of campsite , nice rooms ,5 min walk along river to center of viaden , can park bikes round back of hotel , out of view

hotel belle vue , in center, this will probably be the dearest with nicest rooms , and is in good spot. garage under hotel to park

hotel heintz, two minute walk to center. garage in car park.

stayed at all three stu, all ok

I didnt add to this because I tend to avoid Cochem.. or rather, I'm asked/TOLD to avoid Cochem. And.. our Hotel at neuerburg is a real favourite now so we have never been tempted to try anywhere else.. and we really do tend to avoid tourist traps. like Cochem and Vianden.

If I was going to luxembourg though.. and didnt mind splashing out a little. Staying at a great place in a great area. (with great food) for a "few days"..

I would stay with the mad dutch couple who own the hotel at Kautenbach... just check out the roads in the immediate area.

They're Dutch.. and the website is also dutch. But.. they speak perfect english (obviously) and just a glance at the website shows exactly the clientele they are aimed at. Not cheap.. but it is stunning. We absolutely love stopping there for meals.

I am looking at going to Germany with a mate in May

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for accommodation?

I am looking at going to Cochem area for a few days

Hello Stu

I would like to recommend "Hotel Zur Post" in Klotten, just outside Cochem. A days ride from either Europort or Calais. I have been several times and never been disappointed, short ride to the Nurburgring & Berkastel Kues and the like. Book quick though, its a popular place.

Klaus himself is a biker and the facilities there are great. Secure indoor parking and drying room. Klaus and his team are also great cooks, the food is amazing. There is a little Dutch bar up the road and several eateries, and only a taxi ride in to Cochem.
