Well MB, BT upgraded us to fibre today for reasons I don't understand. I certainly didn't ask for it.

Anyway, we've gone from 14 mbps to 50 mbps. I just wish it had happened a couple of months ago when I had to download a few gb of CAD software!

The phone is back on having been off most of the day. Sod's law says that this afternoon my mum had a fall whilst out shopping and had to wait three hours for an ambulance. She's 85 so lying on a pavement for 3 hours hasn't done her any good.

And of course no-one could contact us. We have no mobile signal where we live so need the phone line and broadband for WiFi mobile to work.

To be fair Dave from BT was excellent. He found a number of issues with the line which explains why our broadband was so slow.

Since this was posted at 7 bells of the afternoon watch the sun is well over the yardarm so splicing the mainbrace is perfectly acceptable.
