Hi

Can anyone recommend a route planner for the Alps? I am trying to plan a trip for the Spring/ Summer- the problem I have is when trying to plan the route, the app im using (google Maps, Michelin route planner etc) says the routes are not possible. I know the majoirty of passess are currenlty closed due to snow, but I want to find something that will allow me to work out howw long it will take when they are open.

Cheers

Steve

Are you exporting the routes to a sat nav?

Thanks Stu- Kurviger is just what I needed. I haven't decided about uploading he routes to GPSyet- I have a list of passes I want to do and wanted to see how long I need to do them all. I did the Alps a few years back and rushed it- I want to take my time and enjoy it this time around.

I havent got one yet. When I went previously I just used WAZE- it was fine, but I want to specify the actual route I want to take rather than just the quickest etc.

whatever time your routing method gives you for a particular pass. take that time and double it. And if its a popular road.. and you are going during the holiday season. doubling the time might easily be over-optimistic especially if there are no vehicular restrictions on that particular pass.

What region of the Alps are you heading for?

I'll be heading to Switzerland and Italy- I'm thinking of having a rough plan, but make it up when I'm there (i'll book the first and last night of accommodation and then look for vacancies each day) Last tie i booked all the accommodation before I left and early cam unstuck- San Bernadino pass as closed for a cycle race ad m hotel was on the other side!!

Last time i went I got the train from Dusseldorf to Vienna and basically just rode home from there.
