I messed up with my tax as a kid and desperately need advice.

I'm not sure if this is the right section to put this under, please let me know and I can move it.

So I had a Honda CBR 125 when I was 18, moved to Wales when I was 20 and stopped riding it (went into storage). I completely forgot about the bike and as I was going through some paperwork today found my logbook and realised I hadn't SORN'd it or changed the address of the registered keeper (for some reason 20 yo me didn't think about it), I want to straighten everything out and am more than happy to pay what's owed I just don't want to put myself in shit. It's been in storage for 2.5 years now and I believe hasn't been taxed or SORN'd since then, what can I do to avoid massive penalties or criminal charges??

TL;DR - Didn't SORN bike 2.5 years ago, can't pay massive fees, help.

There's only one way out of this......You'll have to fake your own death....Then get a sex change operation....Then cut off all contact with loved ones... Then go on the run and live out your days in a cabin in Siberia :thumb: Or pay the 80 quid fine

Years ago you could actually ring DVLA and they would answer the phone so that you could have a chat and straighten things out . That was years ago .

Bought our first newish car, had been waiting for the DVLA to send a letter saying MOT is due after it's 3rd birthday, completely forgot about it. 5 months later realised shit we should have done it without being prompted  got an MOT, no fine.

I think it would have been worst if you were caught with the bike on the road where it wasn't taxed or with valid insurance. You could always plead that you stored the bike away before MOT was due and left it in storage and forgot about it; which is what you kind of did anyway.

If you don't get caught by a anpr camera you'll be fine.

I was in a similar situation, had to leave my bike untaxed and uninsured 'off the road' for 2 weeks, then the bike was sold. I haven't received any letters since.
