I have just been into town for the first time in almost 3 months. And I reckon Ive seen history in the making. The beginnings of the end of the High street. Not the slow decline we all know about. what Ive seen today is more than that. I reckon city centres are now unsustainable as shopping areas. I wouldn't want to be a (non-food) shop worker in this new reality.
A wonderful thing is work, I could watch it all day.

I know what you mean it seems only the big outlets are going to be moderately viable but even they can’t sustain the amount of people allowed in the shops, must be impossible for the smaller shops.

To echo a point that many have already made, funny how so many of the big chains were permitted to stay open in some capacity and keep bringing in revenue while smaller or independent ones had no choice but to close up for several months.

Not so much in the UK I think but just about everyone who could was selling stuff online. Went into Stroud myself yesterday and most places were open but the streets were pretty quiet. My wife and I went into a few shops and they were all operating on the basis of the 2m distancing and reduced numbers of customers. I went into our local bookshop and bought a book for each of my grandchildren. I like to support local family owned shops.

All the public loos are closed as well which creates another whole set of issues. (Apparently the council is opening them this week.)
Back in the blue. No bikes.....

I was saddened today to discover just how bad things have got during this pandemic.
