Got the prayer mat out and spent the evening in Harley Davidson worship and contemplation .

Well while the mat was out you could have cleaned it. :D :D

Fitted new end can to my exhaust system. Looks way better IMO. IMG_20200623_140656161.jpgIMG_20200623_144302522.jpg

Sounds pretty much the same, increases by 0.5 dB which wasn't the point.

Looks way better !

Deserves a clean swing arm to set it off though.

Cheers

Ian

That was the next stage. Thorough clean of whole bike including removing the sump guard and cleaning all the crap from in there. Inspected the brakes - good. Cleaned and lubed the chain. Relocated my GPS as it was catching on my new screen

Enough bike work for a while and tomorrow AGW I'll ride down to North Devon and back just cos I can.

Finally the rain abated, to be replaced by burning sunshine (ow my head). First thing, the top nut.. thing for the top yoke. It's actually a nut on a separate threaded thing which turns into the top of the stem - I don't understand what it's all about but it's on there nice and tight

Part of the up-speccing to K100RS-RR is to set the geometry to race mode (I wish I could've gone further but the handlebars got in the way, very rock and roll ):

Racing pads! Bright orange will have me shunned by the BMW fraternity but rugged individualism is how I roll after being influenced by that old welsh spanish bloke..

One pair had a slice down the middle and the other pair didn't, thanks EBC Brake Shop!

Don't look that different to the normal organic pads hmm..

File away the corrosion inside the caliper and in they go, I decided to put the non-sliced pads on the outsides because the outers were the most worn when I took the old pads out. If this is wrong I don't really care because they're staying where they are now..:

Fixed the horn! Hopefully!

No prizes for guessing why the hazard lights don't work.. This was done during the theft back in 2017. It's quite a tricky repair, would be best to do it off the bike and thread the wiring back around the headstock and under the tank. Hmm. I will have to get the tank off to replace the fuel lines for ones that don't have massive cracks in them so it could be done..

Worn out and pottering about by now, I thought I'd put the mudguard on. Yes they're always wonky at the back, no you can't fix it.

Phew!

Cleaned it , polished it , and inspected every inch of it . This bike is now properly fettled to my standards . I've done 200 miles in three days and it's running beautifully .

Ahhh..

Managed not to melt the plastic of the switch too much!

Gently gently..

I never said I'm a master solderer

https://i.imgur.com/mfDDt7J.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>

Only melted the dash pad a little bit! After all that the hazards still didn't work and suddenly the switch was very stiff, I thought I'd knackered it with too much heat but a bit of penetrating spray has it working as well as it ever did - if I get the switch into just the right position I have hazard lights. So, hazards work, both horns work, all going well!

What to do next though. Do I take the opportunity of there being no fairing in the way to replace the fuel hoses, or do I put the fairing back on and then have a slightly more difficult job later on? Decisions decisions.

It looks way better than those two bits of drainpipe that were on it before , much neater and quieter too I expect . 😉

Hmm I think the "drainpipes" are the new version. It actually sounds different than I thought when revved as I found on a ride out to Barnstaple and back today. More snarly.

Just pulling your leg old chap . I'm hardly in a position to talk about drainpipes .

Went for a ride out to Barnstaple and back. By 1300 it was really too hot for comfort - 30 C in Lynmouth and 34 C passing Bristol on the way home. So hot that I only stopped a couple of times, once in Porlock Weir and once at Taunton services on the M5.IMG_20200624_130259514_HDR.thumb.jpg.819ad77115aded392be91a8442577c26.jpg

Wash it properly after euro trip, removed all plastic that I know how to. After hours of washing spray it with xcp, just for fun, changed oil and oil filter. Filled up MY fridge with beer and wine to support future activities.

Me and mrs C went out for a well deserved ride at long last, I think it's been around 4 months at least since the ninja turned a wheel in anger and now I feel very relaxed  20200624_180828.thumb.jpg.01a3e82844d468d753022bf5d8869619.jpg
