Hey 😊

Just had my Honda rebel cmx500 back from its first service - I know there is an oil change for this but I can now smell acetone quite strongly? I’d this from the new oil? Hoping it will fade as it’s giving me a headache 🤕

Ah so oil being heated/burned on exhaust is likely to produce this smell? I’ll call the dealership that did the service and double check with them too 😊 thought I’d check the hive mind here first 👍👍

I don't think you'd get an acetone smell though. I've used acetone quite a lot in the past to clean things up before gluing and oil doesn't remind me of it. No idea what it might be though, unless the garage used something similar to clean something up.

could be a polish/cleaner they have wiped on the exhaust. I used to love the smell of WD40 when the pipes started heating up  See if it goes away after a couple of days or so :)

...and if you start hallucinating and see elephants driving cars and stuff, pull over and have a break.
