XTreme
On the hunt for old Railway Stations again......and this time it's Baza! This was a large station in it's day, with a lot of passenger and goods traffic. The station itself has been restored, and the engine sheds, water tower and turntable still remain.Like all of them it's been closed since the end of December 1984.Here's the updated map of stations visited.......the green spots mark completed. This is how it looked in 1894....... .......and how it looked in the 70's! Now let's go right up to date!

Bianco2564
Walked along part of the abandoned Great Central Railway that passed through Rugby.Last train ran from here in 1969, now a nature reserve and cycle path.

I know its sad to see it like this. The bottom picture shows the platform edge in the middle and the track bed is now underwater. There is a great heritage railway further up the GCR line between Leicester and Loughborough I've been to a few times.http://www.gcrailway.co.uk/
