Has the world moved on or do I just stick with the PR range?Looking for cost effective all year, high mileage tyres, that are good in the wet and dry.Bike is a heavy Triumph Trophy 1200 240kg, often 2 up. Presently the rear is a Metzeler Roadtec Z8 - no complaints yet. I bought it because it was literally 1/2 the price of PR4 at the time, I have no complaints although i cannot say how many miles is done.Presently I can get a Metzger Z6 for 2/3 the price of a PR4/5 and I cannot say I am not tempted. Although the difference is not that great in price. Then buying a new tyre for one or other bike ever 6 months or so it's a noticeable cost. Yes I have no issues with having miss matched front and rear tyres. If I bought tyres in pairs it would push costs up massively, when they wear out I replace.During my time in bikes I have used:Road Smarts I found they lacked in the wet,Battle Axe did not have the life I expected,PR4's I seem to get punctures at around 6k miles. They warm up quickly and give very good feedback, especially the front tyre. I’ve done about 2000 miles and the rear doesn’t have any noticeable wear or squaring off. Only been caught in the wet a couple times and they perform very well. MikeHorton Posted September 17, 2020 Share Posted September 17, 2020 I'll 2nd the Avon's I've had Avon spirits fitted to my tracer 900gt and they are amazing in all weathers the standard fit Dunlop 222"s were less than good. I went with these on advice of the dealers who rated them and assured me I'd get greater wear out of them.I guess it depends on the type of bike as to what works, I had Metzler tourance fitted to my Himalayan and again they seemed the perfect fit.If you find a good tyre for your bike stick with it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I get about 10-12k from a tyre I am for from known for the slowest riding.Although now I need my driving licence for work I have rained in allot.
