Soft elbow protectors?

Recommended Posts

I have a Knox protection vest with elbow and back protectors and I really like it because it means I don't have to have protection for each different jacket I use.

The problem is the elbow protectors -- even though it's far from a cheap bit of kit, they're absolutely killing me!

I like to wear jackets reasonably snug, as you're supposed to, to prevent ballooning etc. This inevitably means a bit of pressure on the elbows, though nothing dramatic. It doesn't feel extreme when riding or walking around, but later on and next day it feels like I've been through the wringer. I thought I had some sort of tennis elbow thing going on until I realised it was the elbow pads.

Does anyone have any pointers for decent, more flexible protectors that I can slot in? I've read somewhere about the ones that are pliable but harden on impact... are they any use?

I have the same issue, but to a much lesser extent, with the knees. I swear it's not age!

Funnily enough I have the same top from Knox but have no issues with it at all, find it very comfortable.. How old is yours? Only ask as my partner's one is newer and hers has softer more flexible armour than mine.
