Panda in Lakeland

So yesterday we came back late form Dover/Dunkerque after spending a 10 days camping holiday in England.

Panda wished to see the Lake District and Yorkshire...

So we drove from the south-east to the north-west (on 'yelow' and 'white'roads), camping on the way in Kent and somewhere in the Midlands.

We than stayed 5 nights on a camping halfway between Lake Windermere and Ullswater and made some roundtrips from there

as well as a trip to Yokshire National Park.

And we did of course a bit of walking in the area too.

The whole time in the UK there was a burning sun, hardly any clouds, sometimes a bit of wind, but not one drop of rain !

We cannot remember ever spending so many days in the UK without rain!

We picked up a tan even...

JRH, thanks for the tips.

In the end Mrs. O-t found some gardens herself in the area, but visiting the 'Lakesiderailway' made my day.

Very impressive to see the steam loc so close, and in action !

The ride was OK, but I could have watched the engine whole day...

You had a great week for it! :thumb:

Not only the weather was great, it is a very beautiful part of England, well worth a visit.

I originally wanted to do it by motorbike, but in the end it turned out OK to go by Panda with airco...

Great trip anyhow !

Stunning loco. Steam is great as when you look at them from the engineering and mechanical it's done in a beautiful way.

Great, isn't it?

They had two more loco's that were 'on display'.

One was being steamed up but it was not going anywhere.

And somewhere on the way we had to stop for an old Diesel loco pulling a few carriages.

The crossing-gates were operated manually still.

Though not as impressive as steamengines, it was still quite nice to see this little train...

Next time you should swing by York

Depending on what is on when you go you can see what they are restoring. Interesting to watch them working on some of those old steam trains.

Excellent roads in that neck of the woods too. (and some nice gardens for Mrs O-T)
