Guest Posted August 28, 2013 Share Posted August 28, 2013 hope you lads can help me!I have a non running Peugeot elyseo 100cc scooter, up until 2 weeks ago it ran fine with no problems whatsoever!The problem began when i got off my perfectly working bike to do a quick shopping trip, went to get back on my bike and it wouldnt start??the starter motor whirring sound happens then nothing, no combustion, no chugging, not even a flicker of hope? ive had a look at the petrol supply, its running clean, the oil is fine, i thought it may be a spark problem so changed the spark plug, still the same, the kick start doesnt work either, the leg moves but nothing happens in the engine, (although, this has never worked since ive had it, 6 months)does anyone know of any other reason why the bike is not turning over??driving me mad!! Grumpy Old Git Posted August 28, 2013 Share Posted August 28, 2013 Have you actually checked to see if you have a good spark at the plug (take it out and connect it to the HT lead and hold (insulated pliers) the body of the plug against the metalwork of the engine when trying to start it)?If that is OK, then the probable answer is that the starter dog (gear) is not engaging. What should happen is that the dog is thrust forwards on the stater shaft to engage with the engine gearing and turn it over. You can check this whilst the plug is out (put your thumb over the plug hole and engage the starter - You should feel your thumb being 'blown out' from the hole).Good luck.
